Increase Of Motor Vehicle Theft Across The Area

We’re urging motorists to review their vehicle security following a spate of thefts across Watford.

The majority of vehicles reported as stolen in recent weeks have been Toyota models, so we’re particularly keen for anyone who owns or drives one to ensure they are taking steps to help keep it more secure from opportunist thieves.

Always ensure that your vehicle is fully locked and secured when leaving it unattended.

If your vehicle has an alarm or immobiliser, ensure these are enabled.

A steering wheel lock can act as a good deterrent.

Consider installing a CCTV or doorbell camera, as well as security lighting.

Block vehicles in wherever possible and practicable.

Keep keyless fobs in a signal blocking pouch and regularly test it still works.
